I already wrote a post on one of the panels I went to at ACEN, but there was another panel that inspired me in a very different way. I attended a fun discussion on Gunpla that was focused on enjoying the activity at various different levels of skill, effort, financial commitment, etc. And it inspired me to go out that very weekend to the new Gundam Base Chicago and pick up a beginner set.
If you’re not familiar, Gunpla is set of model kits for the Gundam franchise. I’ve known about model kits like this, but manual dexterity isn’t my strong suit so I had never tried it. But at least with the beginner set it was straightforward and satisfying to put together. Feels a bit like LEGO, but the finer detail feels particularly enjoyable. I think maybe next I’ll try to find a beginners model kit for a warship, cause my grandfather used to like those.
